The tradition continues!
Over half a century, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s has grown into one of America’s most versatile orchestras, with a repertoire spanning the Baroque to the contemporary. Now, the Grammy-winning orchestra returns to perform in the historic sanctuary of Temple Emanu-El . . . for the 45th time!
This fall’s program features several of Johann Sebastian Bach’s beloved Brandenburg Concertos, a gift to the Margrave of Brandenburg in 1721 that reflects the composer’s inventive genius. Written in the Italian Concerto Grosso style, they’re considered pinnacles of the Baroque repertoire, and the performance will feature several of the orchestra’s virtuosic members as soloists playing:
JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major, BWV 1049
JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048
JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D Major, BWV 1050
JS BACH Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F Major, BWV 1047
Made possible by the support of Temple Emanu-El members Robert B. Menschel and Richard Menschel
